The budget continuation would be used
to attract and retain highly qualified teachers; keep class sizes manageable; fund classroom
resources for reading and math; and fund music, arts, athletics, and full-day kindergarten.

The bond would pay for safety and security upgrades including lockdown systems, and secure points of entry for safety – including gates, fencing and key card access The safety and security of our students and staff should be our number one priority.

We need this bond to modernize our classrooms and fund critical repairs including replacing aging air conditioning systems, roof sealing and repairs, and replacing school buses that are over 15 years old. We must continue to invest in safe schools that meet the 21st century educational needs of our students.

We need to address the needs of the rapidly growing portions in the northwest portion of the district. The bond would support the construction of a new elementary school in the Northwest Asante area as well as land for a new high school in the Northwest Asante area.

The budget continuation is an extension of the current funding that has been in place since 2000. If approved, the proposed bond would phase in over three years and old bonds are paid off, so there is no expected tax rate increase associated with the proposed bond. The tax rates are projected to remain flat- meaning these proposals WILL NOT increase the tax rate.
